What’s New at Mars Hill Haven
We keep a dated record of meaningful property improvements so returning guests can see what has changed and future guests can feel confident that the cabin is actively maintained.
Recent improvements include a new refrigerator, tankless hot water system, family-friendly equipment and several bike-focused amenities, building on earlier upgrades to the cabin’s outdoor living spaces and internet reliability.

August Improvements
August brought several practical upgrades focused on reliability, everyday comfort and making family stays easier.
Tankless Hot Water System Installed
The previous traditional water heater was replaced with a tankless system designed to provide more consistent hot water for families and larger groups.
The upgrade is especially useful when several guests return from skiing, hiking, mountain biking or exploring Western North Carolina and need showers around the same time.
New Refrigerator Installed
A new refrigerator was installed in August 2026, replacing the previous unit and improving reliability for our guests.
Dependable refrigerator and freezer space is particularly important for families and larger groups staying several nights, and this upgrade helps make meal planning and longer stays easier.
High Chair Added for Young Families
A folding high chair was added in August 2026 to make mealtimes easier for guests traveling with babies and toddlers.
It is easy to set up when needed and store away when it isn’t, giving families one less bulky piece of baby equipment to pack for their mountain getaway.

Bike-Friendly Upgrades
With lift-served mountain biking at nearby Hatley Pointe, we added several practical amenities specifically for guests bringing their bikes to the mountains.
Dedicated Bike Rack
A dedicated bike rack was added near the cabin to give riders a convenient place to keep bikes organized between rides.
It provides an easy staging area before heading to Hatley Pointe or exploring other riding opportunities around Western North Carolina.
Bike Wash Station
A designated bike wash area gives riders a convenient place to rinse away mud, dust and trail debris before storing bikes or loading them back onto a vehicle.
Bike Repair Stand
A bike repair stand provides a stable setup for basic adjustments, inspections and quick repairs while staying at the cabin.
Riders should still bring any specialty tools, replacement parts or bike-specific equipment they may need during their trip.

Traveling with Little Ones Made Easier
Family trips already require plenty of packing, so we added another useful amenity for guests traveling with babies and toddlers.
Portable Baby Playard Added
A portable folding playard was added in June 2026 for families traveling with infants and toddlers.
It provides families with a convenient sleep and play option at the cabin without having to bring another large piece of travel gear from home.
The playard is stored at the cabin and available for guest use during their stay.

More Comfortable Evenings on the Lower Deck
Cool mountain evenings are part of the Mars Hill experience, so we added another way for guests to comfortably enjoy the outdoor spaces later into the year.
Patio Heater Added to the Lower Deck
A propane patio heater was added to the lower deck in November 2025 to make the outdoor gathering area more comfortable during cooler mountain evenings.
It gives guests another reason to enjoy the fresh mountain air during fall, winter and early spring when temperatures can drop quickly after sunset.

Upper Deck Fire Pit Added
One of our earlier outdoor upgrades focused on creating another comfortable place to gather while enjoying the mountain setting.
Propane Fire Pit Added to the Upper Deck
A propane fire pit was added to the upper deck in July 2025, creating a warm and inviting gathering space for guests to enjoy the mountain air.
It is a great spot for conversation, relaxing after a day of exploring, or simply spending an evening outside while taking in the Blue Ridge Mountain surroundings.

Internet Reliability Upgrade
Mountain cell service can be limited, so keeping the cabin’s internet equipment online during brief power interruptions was an early priority.
Internet Battery Backup Added
A dedicated uninterruptible power supply (UPS) was added in April 2025 to provide battery backup for the cabin’s internet and network equipment during short power interruptions.
Because cellular service around the mountain can be limited, internet connectivity can be especially important for communication, trip planning and staying connected.
The backup system adds another layer of resilience during brief utility outages. Actual backup time depends on the equipment load and length of the outage.

The bike amenities make riding weekends easier, while family-friendly additions such as the portable playard and high chair mean parents have fewer bulky items to bring when traveling with young children.
Outdoor additions such as the upper-deck propane fire pit and lower-deck patio heater extend the time guests can comfortably spend outside enjoying the mountain air and gathering together.
