Your first day skiing or snowboarding does not need to be complicated. Reserve what you need before arrival, dress for mountain weather, take a lesson and spend the first part of the day learning control rather than chasing experienced friends around the mountain.

Reserve the correct pass for the date and time you want to ski.
2. Reserve Equipment
Rent skis or a snowboard, boots and a helmet if you do not bring your own.
3. Book a Lesson
Learn how to stop, turn, control speed and use the lifts before venturing farther.
4. Dress in Layers
Mountain temperatures and wind can change, especially after sunset.
5. Check Conditions
Review the official slope report, weather and webcams the morning of your visit.
6. Stay Within Your Ability
Progress from easier terrain rather than letting someone talk you into a run you are not ready for.
